ABOUT FILAMEN DIGITAL & NEW MEDIA ART COLLECTIVE
Filamen is a Kuala Lumpur–based digital and new media art collective founded in 2016. It nurtures emerging artists through workshops, residencies, and festivals, bridging art and technology via immersive installations, architectural projection mapping, and public activations.
Who We Are
Started in 2016, Filamen serves as a dynamic platform dedicated to nurturing the creative talents of the future. We provide an open playground for young, aspiring artists and technologists to explore, experiment, and flourish at the intersection of contemporary arts and cutting-edge digital technology.
Unlike traditional gallery structures, Filamen acts as an agile incubator and catalyst. We believe in unlocking complete creative autonomy, providing our collective members and residents with the computational tools, spatial environments, and mentorship needed to translate abstract ideas into impactful experiential reality.

Through our permanent labs—Galeri Filamen and MomentTM Living Lab at Muzium Telekom, alongside our experimental hub at GMBB Bukit Bintang—we provide direct access to state-of-the-art projection equipment, computing hardware, and curatorial guidance, equipping creators to shape the future of Southeast Asian digital arts.
Beyond the Gallery Walls
Filamen’s activations are not confined within gallery walls; they spill into heritage streets, historical facades, and public architectural landmarks across Malaysia and internationally.
From landmark public showcases at TERANG Light Festival across Penang and Kuala Lumpur, to international participations at the Singapore Night Festival and ITB Light Festival (Bandung), Filamen connects people with their living cultural heritage through light, sound, and digital storytelling.
